TL;DR
Sportsbook - Performance Architect (Frontend): Defining and driving performance architecture for large-scale, real-time Sportsbook applications with an accent on frontend responsiveness, customer-perceived latency, and scalable platform design. Focus on rendering and hydration, caching and CDN strategy, Core Web Vitals, load testing, capacity planning, and resolving bottlenecks across cloud, networking, Kubernetes, APIs, and backend dependencies.
Location: Athens, Greece; hybrid work with three days in the office and two days from home each week

operates a large-scale international Sportsbook and iGaming business with a global network of offices and more than 2,800 colleagues.
What you will do
- Define and own performance architecture for Sportsbook applications, focusing on frontend performance and customer-perceived latency.
- Establish performance-related non-functional requirements across web, mobile, and platform layers.
- Drive frontend performance practices covering rendering, hydration, asset loading, caching, CDNs, and Core Web Vitals.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects, Platform Architects, DevOps, and engineering teams to identify bottlenecks across infrastructure, networking, cloud, Kubernetes, APIs, and backend dependencies.
- Lead performance analysis, load testing, capacity planning, incident reviews, and root cause analysis.
- Mentor teams and improve performance maturity across the Sportsbook organization.
Requirements
- Strong experience with frontend performance engineering in large-scale, high-traffic systems.
- Understanding of web architectures, modern frontend frameworks, HTTP, networking, caching, and CDNs.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, and containerized environments such as Kubernetes.
- Experience designing and reviewing systems for performance, scalability, and resilience.
- Proven experience in architectural or cross-team technical roles and the ability to influence decisions without direct authority.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical, product, and non-technical audiences.
Nice to have
- Sportsbook, iGaming, or real-time betting systems experience.
- Experience with high-availability, low-latency platforms operating at scale.
- Hands-on experience with performance tooling, observability, and load-testing frameworks.
