Data Engineer II

TL;DR

Data Engineer II (Data Platform): Building and optimizing scalable ELT pipelines and data platforms with an accent on modern AWS infrastructure and dimensional modeling. Focus on developing robust batch and streaming data systems using Python, Spark, and Kafka while driving observability and engineering best practices.

Location: Must work from the office in Boston, MA. Relocation to Boston, MA is required if not already based there.

Salary: $125,000 - $175,000

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate scalable ELT pipelines using Python and PySpark.
• Develop and maintain batch and streaming data systems using Spark and Kafka.
• Optimize Snowflake data models and DBT transformations for analytics and metrics.
• Partner with data science and product teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Improve platform observability, data quality, and engineering standards.
• Integrate AI tools to automate workflows and accelerate development cycles.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of professional experience operating ETL/ELT pipelines in production.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and dimensional modeling.
• Professional experience with Python in a data engineering context.
• Must be able to work onsite in Boston, MA.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly within an agile environment.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with DBT.
• Experience with Spark and Kafka for data processing.
• Comfort using AI coding assistants like Copilot or ChatGPT.
