What you will do

• Build the tools that power GoFundMe’s risk intelligence.
• Enable data-driven decisioning.
• Collaborate with Data Platform, Risk, and Product to build automation that enables proactive monitoring, alerting, and case management.
• Drive the architecture for reliable, secure, and auditable risk tooling.
• Contribute to building frameworks that help GoFundMe remain compliant with global regulations while maintaining a seamless user experience.
• Participate in code reviews, improve standards, and mentor engineers across data tooling and backend systems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional backend software development experience, including building, deploying, and operating customer-facing applications at scale.
• Strong proficiency and hands-on experience with one or more backend programming languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin, PHP).
• Strong proficiency and hands-on experience with event driven development, preferably using Kafka
• Solid professional experience with relational database design, schema modeling, query optimization, and working with ORMs or data access layers.
• Proven experience designing, building, securing, and maintaining GraphQL and/or RESTful APIs using standard frameworks and industry best practices.
• Experience thriving and contributing effectively in an agile, intensely iterative software development process.
