What you will do

• Design safe whole-body control architectures for bipedal robots.
• Develop controllers for stable locomotion and complex loco-manipulation.
• Integrate reinforcement learning policies into the control stack while maintaining reliable hardware behavior.
• Define interfaces between learned policies and structured controllers for supervision and fallback.
• Validate controllers in simulation and on physical robotic platforms.
• Contribute to a robust, modular real-time control codebase in C++.

Requirements

• MS or PhD in Robotics, Control, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience developing control systems for complex legged or hirify.global robots.
• Practical knowledge of whole-body control or physics-based robot control architectures.
• Hands-on experience implementing reinforcement learning for robotic systems.
• Strong understanding of robot dynamics, kinematics, and multi-contact interaction.
• Strong C++ development skills for real-time systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with bipedal locomotion or loco-manipulation tasks.
• Background in safe RL approaches such as constrained RL or safety filters.
• Knowledge of trajectory optimization, motion generation, or MPC.
• Experience with ROS2 or similar real-time robotics middleware.
