Post-Training Research Scientist (AI)

Salary: $210,000–$285,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Define and pursue foundational and applied research agendas in post-training methodology and performant inference.
• Design and execute rigorous experiments, including multi-node experiments with trillion-parameter models.
• Translate customer requirements into research problems and validate findings with production use cases.
• Publish research at venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, and ICLR.
• Collaborate with model performance and training infrastructure teams to move research into production inference systems.
• Mentor junior researchers and shape the technical direction of the research organization.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD-level research depth in machine learning, or exceptional equivalent experience.
• First-author publications at top machine learning venues.
• Ability to move from theory through implementation to empirical results.
• Strong judgment in selecting high-impact research problems and designing clean experiments.
• Experience spanning multiple research areas, such as interpretability, reinforcement learning, systems, or training methodology.
• Track record of open-source contributions or community building in machine learning research.

Nice to have

• Experience working in a production research engineering environment.
• Background translating research into product decisions on timelines measured in months.
