Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands with 4 days remote work per week

Salary: €85,000–€95,000

What you will do

• Lead architecture decisions and platform strategy for client projects.
• Develop cloud-native, distributed, event-driven, and AI-powered software platforms.
• Work with Kotlin and other JVM languages, choosing the best language per problem.
• Collaborate with international colleagues on long-term projects impacting millions of users.
• Guide and mentor engineering teams and contribute to engineering best practices.
• Participate in bi-weekly knowledge sharing and community activities.

Requirements

• Must have at least 7 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience with Kotlin, Java, Scala or other JVM languages.
• Experience with at least two programming languages in production.
• Experience with cloud-native architectures and preferably Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and scalable platform challenges.
• Strong communication skills for direct client interaction.

Nice to have

• Experience with event-driven or reactive architectures.
• Contributions to open source or speaking at meetups and conferences.
• Experience technically guiding other engineers.
• Interest in AI/ML applications within software engineering.
