Senior Database Administrator

Relocation | PlataCloud Services Team: We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator with proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing large-scale, high-performance database systems. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of mission-critical databases across multiple technologies and environments. Challenges that await you:

• Architect and optimize database infrastructures to support large-scale, high-traffic workloads.
• Administer and maintain clusters across AWS Aurora (PostgreSQL), MongoDB , Scylla, Redis, and ClickHouse.
• Design and operate backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies, ensuring business continuity.
• Automate operational processes, including scaling, monitoring, and maintenance, using infrastructure-as-code (Terraform,OpenTofu, CloudFormation), Ansible, Gitlab CI
• Optimize performance at every layer: schema design, query execution, indexing, caching, and storage.
• Configure and manage replication and sharding strategies for high availability, fault tolerance, and geo-distribution.
• Ensure compliance with SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, and enforce database security best practices.
• Partner with engineering teams to design robust data solutions and provide mentorship to junior DBAs.

What makes you a great fit:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA in production-grade, distributed environments.
• Deep knowledge of Aurora (PostgreSQL), MongoDB or Scylla.
• Proven expertise in managing databases across major cloud platforms (Amazon Web Services , Google Cloud Platform , Yandex Cloud) and specialized Database as a Service (DBaaS) offerings like MongoDB Atlas.
• Advanced expertise in SQL query tuning, schema optimization, and indexing strategies.
• Strong experience with replication, partitioning, and clustering in high-availability systems.
• Proficiency in backup, restore, and failover mechanisms in multi-AZ and multi-region setups.
• Solid skills in automation and scripting (Python, Bash, Go).
• Familiarity with Kubernetes-based deployments(example operator Zalando for PG,Strimzi Kafka) and modern observability stacks (Prometheus, Datadog, AWS CloudWatch).

Your bonus skills:

• Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, OpenTofu, CloudFormation).
