Staff Software Engineer, Cluster Orchestration (AI)

Staff Software Engineer (AI): Advancing hirify.global’s orchestration platform, including Slurm on Kubernetes, to power AI training and inference at scale with an accent on architectural direction, scheduling, quota enforcement, and hyperscale. Focus on eliminating infrastructure bottlenecks, creating new orchestration capabilities, and evolving the orchestration layer for next-generation AI workloads.

Location: Hybrid in Bellevue, WA or Sunnyvale, CA. Remote work may be considered for candidates located more than 30 miles from an office based on role requirements. New hires will attend onboarding at a hub within their first month.

Salary: $185,000–$275,000

What you will do

• Lead technical strategy for hirify.global’s orchestration platform, defining architectural direction.
• Own critical parts of the orchestration platform and managed services.
• Drive cross-org initiatives in scheduling, quota enforcement, and hyperscale.
• Mentor senior engineers and establish org-wide best practices in reliability and observability.
• Ensure the orchestration layer evolves to meet next-generation AI demands.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proven track record designing and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Deep expertise in Slurm/Kubernetes internals and cloud-native development.
• Advanced proficiency in Go and distributed systems design.
• Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen/national, green card holder, refugee, or asylee) or eligible for export authorization.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, EE, or related field.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with orchestration and workflow technologies (Ray, Kubeflow, Kueue, Istio, Knative, Argo Workflows).
• Experience with distributed workloads, GPU-based applications, or ML pipelines.
• Knowledge of scheduling concepts and reliability practices.
• Experience with AI infrastructure and workloads (ML training, inference, HPC).
