TL;DR

Senior Staff Software Engineer: Driving the design and implementation of new features and re-architecting existing systems with an accent on translating complexity into elegant design and creating high-quality, maintainable code. Focus on microservice integrations via REST/gRPC APIs and providing thoughtful guidance to other engineers.

Location: Remote, must be based in the US, with occasional travel to the Mountain View HQ. A 2-day-a-week hybrid policy applies if you are located within a commutable distance from Mountain View.

Salary: $236,000 to $289,000, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Drive the design and implementation of new features and/or re-architect existing systems.
• Design and deliver robust microservice integrations via REST/gRPC APIs.
• Collaborate and mentor other senior engineers providing guidance.
• Contribute to defining technical direction, planning the roadmap, and escalating issues.
• Estimate and manage team project timelines and risks.
• Participate in hiring and onboarding new team members.

Requirements

• 8+ years of development experience in backend or full-stack software development, including IC Leadership experience.
• Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD degree in computer science or a related field.
• Expertise in trade-off analysis for distributed architectures.
• Proficient in at least one modern programming language (Kotlin and C# are used).
• Proficient in running multiple critical tech initiatives in parallel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
