Senior Software Engineer - Web Data Platform (AI)

TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Web Data Platform, AI): Designing, building, and evolving large-scale distributed systems and data pipelines for Bing’s web understanding stack with an accent on content extraction, enrichment, and AI-driven experiences. Focus on optimizing massive data flows, ensuring scalability, robustness, and performance in mission-critical production environments.

Location: Onsite in Suzhou, China. Employees are expected to work from the office at least four days per week.

What you will do

• Design and architect large-scale distributed data pipelines to ensure scalability, robustness, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Implement new features and system improvements in highly distributed, parallelized environments, using data to measure and validate impact.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive test coverage, including unit, integration, and performance tests, ensuring production-grade reliability.
• Debug, triage, and mitigate issues in live production environments handling massive data flows.
• Continuously improve the system architecture, proposing and driving enhancements.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, PMs, and partner teams to align technical execution with business and product objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience.
• Proficiency in coding languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Solid foundation in distributed systems, concurrency, networking, and system design.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Fluency in English (spoken and written).
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.

Nice to have

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor’s Degree AND 8+ years.
