What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of resilient, scalable, and maintainable payment systems.
• Tackle complex architectural and infrastructure challenges to stabilize critical payment flows.
• Make informed technical decisions and influence the architectural direction and roadmap.
• Champion engineering best practices and mentor team members.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to deliver product features.
• Maintain high quality and craftsmanship in daily work, staying updated with industry technologies.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience building backend systems in Java (Kotlin desirable).
• Experience in payments or similarly complex, high-throughput or transactional domains, comfortable operating in production.
• Proficiency in designing and building distributed systems with RESTful and event-driven (e.g., Kafka) architectures, with an emphasis on fault tolerance and observability.
• Ability to take full ownership of work, from design and implementation to deployment and production support.
• Strong software craftsmanship, caring deeply about writing clean, maintainable code and advocating for sustainable engineering.
• Solid experience working with relational databases and optimizing queries.
• Familiarity with AWS-based infrastructure.
• Thrive in a product-led, agile environment with a collaborative mindset.
• English: B2 required
• Work authorization for UK or Ireland required
