Location: Mountain View, United States (Hybrid). Employees are expected to work from a designated Microsoft office at least four days a week if they live within 50 miles (U.S.) of that location, starting January 26, 2026.

Salary: USD $188,000–$304,200 per year (for San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area); USD $139,900–$274,800 per year (for other U.S. locations).

What you will do

• Design and build compute orchestration and scheduling layers on top of Kubernetes and Ray for large compute-capacity foundational AI models.
• Develop and tune scalable software for Nvidia GB200 and AMD MIxxx architectures.
• Benchmark GPU clusters and gather data to develop the pretraining compute roadmap.
• Improve cluster efficiency and ensure the compute platform is observable and easy to operate in production.
• Actively contribute to the development of AI models for innovative products, spanning model architecture, data curation, training/inference, and evaluation.
• Drive architectural changes and influence the roadmap of relevant software and hardware components.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Experience with compute orchestration and scheduling on top of Kubernetes and Ray.
• Strong understanding of workload placement, scaling, and reliability.
• Experience with GPU clusters and related architectures (Nvidia GB200, AMD MIxxx).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, design-driven, product development cycle.

Nice to have

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 8+ years technical engineering experience (Master's) OR 12+ years experience (Bachelor's).
• Deep care for conversational AI and its deployment.
