Internal Controls Manager

TL;DR

Internal Controls Manager (Finance): Designing and deploying a robust company-wide internal controls framework with an accent on SOX compliance and risk identification. Focus on establishing control testing programs, monitoring effectiveness, and optimising workflows through automation.

Location: Hybrid work in Europe with offices across the continent (2 days in office recommended, but not enforced). Opportunity to spend up to 90 days per year on workation, with 21 days outside of the EU.

Salary: €86,700–€117,300 gross per year

What you will do

• Design and deploy a company-wide internal controls framework, establishing documentation standards.
• Ensure internal controls for financial reporting support SOX compliance.
• Partner with process owners to document business processes and embed control points.
• Establish and lead an internal control testing program to ensure data reliability.
• Monitor control effectiveness and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
• Act as a consultant, ensuring new products/systems are built with "controls by design."
• Optimise internal controls workflows and reporting processes through automation.

Requirements

• Strong professional background with hands-on experience in Internal Controls or Internal Audit.
• Deep understanding of control frameworks, particularly SOX or COSO.
• University degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Business, or Accounting.
• Proven ability to manage high-complexity projects from inception to completion.
• Great collaboration skills and excellent communication in written and spoken English.
• Good Excel/Google Sheets skills and excitement for technology-driven businesses.

• Experience working with GRC tools for Internal Controls management.
