Analyst II, Underwriting (Fintech)

What you will do

• Conduct in-depth business model analysis and risk assessment for enterprise customer applications.
• Accurately determine credit exposure for diverse merchants and analyze financial statements.
• Evaluate and underwrite applications from merchants operating in high-risk industries (e.g., travel, gambling).
• Develop detailed written and oral summaries of risks, mitigating factors, and recommendations.
• Represent the Underwriting team in customer calls and meetings, building internal relationships.
• Prioritize, own, and resolve escalated issues with urgency and a customer-centric approach.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in merchant underwriting, credit analysis, or a similar role is required.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent experience is required.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial statement analysis.
• Proven ability to assess business models and identify credit risk exposures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience within Customer Due Diligence (KYC and KYB).

Nice to have

• Experience in the payments industry.
• Experience coaching or mentoring junior team members.
• Expertise in a specific industry vertical.
• Fluency in an additional European language (Spanish, French or German).
