Backend Developer (PHP/Go)

Location: Limassol, Cyprus; relocation to Cyprus is required. The role is based in a fully equipped Limassol office, with the possibility to start working remotely before relocation.

What you will do

• Develop and support business functionality for a highload project handling up to 200k RPS.
• Work on infrastructure tasks and search for scalable engineering solutions.
• Profile, debug, and optimize PHP/Go code and backend solutions.
• Design and implement REST APIs.
• Write and maintain unit, functional, and API tests with appropriate code coverage.
• Work with database sharding, replication, and data structures for high-performance systems.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in PHP or Go development.
• Strong PHP and MySQL skills; the project uses PHP 8.2.
• Practical experience with REST API design and implementation.
• Understanding of and willingness to write unit and functional tests.
• Practical experience debugging, profiling, and optimizing PHP or Go code.
• Understanding of sharding, replication, data structures, and their application to specific tasks.

Nice to have

• Experience with Elasticsearch, Redis, microservices, or Golang.

Hiring process

• HR interview lasting 45 minutes.
• Technical interview lasting 1.5 hours, followed by a 1.5-hour live-coding session.
• Final interview lasting 1 hour.
