DevOps / Systems Engineer (Contractor)

Location: Fully remote within Mexico, with 4+ hours overlap with US Eastern time.

What you will do

• Design and maintain AWS infrastructure, including containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes) and databases (PostgreSQL, Redis).
• Implement infrastructure as code (Terraform/Pulumi) and manage secrets and environment configurations.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for automated testing, building, and deployment.
• Set up comprehensive logging, monitoring (CloudWatch, Datadog), alerting, backup, and disaster recovery.
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide developer support for environment setup and documentation.

Requirements

• 3+ years of DevOps, Systems, or SRE experience.
• Strong experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM).
• Proficiency with Docker, container orchestration, and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
• Experience with PostgreSQL administration and Linux server administration.
• Understanding of networking, security fundamentals, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, or CDK).
• Comfortable communicating in English (written and verbal).
• Available to overlap 4+ hours with US Eastern time.
• Must be based in Mexico.

Nice to have

• Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, Python, and Redis administration.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, Prometheus/Grafana) and AWS cost optimization.
• Experience with CDN configuration (CloudFront, Cloudflare), LLM API infrastructure, or geographic data serving (PostGIS).
