TL;DR

Senior UX/UI Designer (Game Development): Designing intuitive and engaging user experiences for web games and applications with an accent on owning end-to-end user experiences and creating scalable design systems. Focus on turning user research into actionable design decisions and collaborating closely with developers during implementation within game engines.

Location: Hybrid (Christchurch, New Zealand), must be based in New Zealand.

What you will do

  • Design intuitive, engaging, and accessible UX/UI across web games and applications.
  • Own end-to-end user experiences, from early concepts to polished, playable reality.
  • Create and evolve UX/UI languages and design systems that scale across a family of products.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Creative, Programming, QA, and clients.
  • Turn user research and usability testing into smart, actionable design decisions.
  • Produce wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that developers love.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience in UX/UI design for web products, games, or rich digital experiences.
  • Strong hands-on skills across tools like Figma, Adobe CC, Jira, Notion, Slack, UXPin, Sketch.
  • Proven experience creating design systems and scalable UX/UI languages.
  • Confidence supporting implementation and collaborating closely with developers, including getting comfy inside game engines.
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and modern front-end constraints.
  • Solid understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG, AGI Tag systems).
  • Experience running or supporting user research and usability testing.
  • Must be based in New Zealand.

  • Designed for games (or just really love them), especially mobile or web-based.
  • Excitement about children’s media and inclusive, accessible design.
  • Nostalgia for Crossy Road, Neopets-era web games, or MiniClip classics.
  • Dabbled in Godot, Unity, or Unreal.
  • Enjoy working in small, agile teams within a wider product ecosystem.
