Nex is a technology-driven play company focused on helping families rediscover the joy of movement through fun, social, and interactive experiences powered by natural body motion. Created by parents for parents, Nex designs products with safety, privacy, and accessibility at their core.

We are looking for a Senior Game Environment Artist to join the Metaverse Cell team and help craft compelling, high-quality environments for interactive experiences on Nex Playground. You will collaborate closely with the Art Director and cross-functional partners to bring environments from early concepts through polished in-engine implementation, balancing visual quality, performance, and gameplay clarity.

This role combines hands-on environment production with creative problem-solving, ownership of quality, and contribution to pipelines and visual standards.

🚀 Responsibilities
• Create high-quality 3D environments from concept to final in-engine implementation
• Model architecture, props, and set dressing assets
• Assemble, light, and implement environments in Unity
• Optimize assets for real-time performance while maintaining strong visual quality
• Collaborate with art direction, concept, tech art, and engineering to maintain visual direction
• Contribute to world-building through composition, lighting, materials, and mood
• Ensure environments meet technical and performance requirements
• Maintain clean, organized assets following established pipelines
• Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to other artists
• Help define, improve, and uphold environment art pipelines and quality benchmarks

📚 Required Skills
• 3+ years of professional experience as a Game Environment Artist with at least one shipped title
• Strong portfolio showcasing environment art, modeling, texturing, composition, and in-engine work
• Proficiency with 3ds Max, Maya, or Blender
• Experience with ZBrush and Adobe texturing tools
• Strong understanding of scale, proportion, lighting, color theory, and environmental storytelling
• Solid knowledge of modular workflows, optimization, and real-time constraints
• Working knowledge of PBR workflows
• Experience creating high-quality assets including hero props
• Ability to balance visual quality with performance requirements
• Experience with modern game engines, especially Unity
• Strong spoken and written English communication skills
• Ability to work independently, remotely, and across time zones
• Passion for games and interactive experiences

👍 Nice to Have
• Experience on AA or AAA game titles
• Cantonese and or Mandarin language skills
• Experience across stylized, realistic, and anime-inspired art styles
• Experience with hand-painted textures
• Familiarity with sports-themed or motion-based interactive experiences
• Experience optimizing visuals for low-power or constrained hardware
