Location: Hybrid in San Jose, CA or Seattle, WA, United States. Must be willing to relocate to one of these cities if outside commuting distance.

Salary: $122,500–$171,500 (San Jose) / $112,000–$156,500 (Seattle)

What you will do

• Make an immediate impact on reimagining how people search for travel.
• Apply statistics methods (confidence intervals, point estimates, sample size estimates) to make inferences on data and A/B tests.
• Apply Natural Language models to Google keyword analysis and meta models to multi-objective ranking problems.
• Conduct feature engineering and modify existing models/techniques for business needs.
• Develop domain expertise in fraud & risk to detect risky transactions.
• Model rich and complex online travel data to understand, predict, and optimize business metrics.

Requirements

• Must be graduating between December 2025 and July 2026 with a PhD degree in Computer Science (focus on AI, ML, NLP, Data Mining, Data Science), Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Operations Research, or Electrical & Computer Engineering.
• Must be available to start on August 17, 2026.
• Must be willing to relocate to the job location city (San Jose or Seattle) if outside commuting distance.

Nice to have

• Understanding of ML techniques: Regression, Naïve Bayes, Gradient Boosting, Random Forests, SVMs, Neural Networks, NLP.
• Experience with programming, statistical, and querying languages: Python, R, SQL/Hive, Java.
• Understanding of distributed file systems, scalable datastores, distributed computing (Spark, Hadoop).
• Familiarity with cloud computing, specifically AWS.
