TL;DR
Member Of Technical Staff, Applied Scientist (AI): Leading the end-to-end model-building process for Windows Copilot, including data curation, model development, deployment, and iteration. Location: Multiple locations in the United States. MAI employees are expected to work from a designated Microsoft office at least four days a week if they live within 50 miles (U.S.) of that location.
Salary: The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 – $274,800 per year. In the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is USD $158,400 – $304,200 per year.

- Work closely with engineering and product teams to ensure AI-driven experiences meet quality and user experience standards.
- Conduct rigorous data analysis and experimentation, leveraging insights to improve Copilot’s intelligence.
- Stay ahead of the latest innovations in deep learning, reinforcement learning, and generative AI.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience OR Master’s Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience OR equivalent experience.
Nice to have
- Master’s Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 9+ years related experience OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 6+ years related experience OR equivalent experience.
- Proven track record of deploying machine learning models in large-scale production environments.
