Staff Software Engineer (iOS): Building and optimizing strong, sustainable developer tooling for the Slack iOS application with an accent on CI/CD, build systems, and automated testing. Focus on designing robust developer workflow tools, solving complex concurrency challenges, and ensuring system reliability under heavy development traffic.

Location: Onsite in San Francisco, Seattle, or Bellevue, USA

What you will do

Build and maintain complex iOS tooling for the Slack iOS application.
Enable feature engineers to solve complicated problems quickly without reinventing the wheel.
Lead and mentor other iOS engineers.
Set high technical design and code quality standards for your team.
Monitor and improve KPIs such as CI stability, TimeToMerge, and build time metrics.
Demonstrate exceptional ownership across Slack’s entire iOS codebase.

Requirements

10+ years of experience building and maintaining complex iOS tooling from CI to CD.
Deep expertise with Swift, Bazel, Python, and Xcode tools.
Experience with AI tools like Claude Code and scripting (Python/bash).
Ability to monitor and improve CI/CD KPIs and build time metrics.
Deep familiarity with the Apple ecosystem, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing tools.
Must be able to work onsite in San Francisco, Seattle, or Bellevue, USA.

Nice to have

Experience using Slack and a keen interest in making it better.
Prior experience in an iOS developer experience role.
