What you will do

• Assist in building and maintaining distributed backend systems, both player-facing and internal.
• Support the deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of online services.
• Help integrate external APIs, including platform first parties and infrastructure providers.
• Participate in investigating performance, reliability, and cost-related issues.
• Contribute to documentation and operational best practices for networked systems.
• Collaborate closely with senior engineers, production, and other disciplines.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Foundational experience with server-side or backend programming concepts.
• Exposure to concurrent or asynchronous programming in a managed language (e.g., Kotlin).
• Familiarity with databases or data storage technologies (relational or NoSQL).
• Basic understanding of API design.
• Experience or coursework involving automation, scripting, deployment, or monitoring tools.
• Comfortable working at a Linux command line.

Nice to have

• Interest in game development or online multiplayer systems.
• Familiarity with gaming platforms such as Xbox Live, Steamworks, or PlayStation Network.
• Introductory experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Internships, personal projects, or academic work involving networking, backend systems, or distributed services.
