Software Engineer (.NET)

TL;DR

Software Engineer (.NET): Designing, developing, and maintaining .NET applications and services for a policy administration system with an accent on feature development, platform enhancements, and modernization initiatives. Focus on building and improving backend services and user-facing components, troubleshooting production issues, and contributing to technical debt reduction in an Agile environment.

Location: Hybrid in Richmond, VA. US Work Authorization is required, and visa sponsorship is not provided.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain .NET applications and services for the underwriting platform.
• Implement enhancements, bug fixes, and performance improvements across existing systems.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, QA, and Operations in an Agile environment.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, supporting integration points with downstream systems.
• Contribute to platform modernization, technical debt reduction, and improved automation.

Requirements

• Strong experience developing applications using C# and .NET (.NET Core or .NET Framework).
• Experience building and supporting web applications and APIs.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 3-5 years of experience.
• Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL.
• Familiarity with source control, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• US Work Authorization is required.
• English: B2 required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Angular or other modern frontend frameworks.
• Experience supporting large, enterprise-scale applications.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure preferred).
• Experience in insurance, financial services, or other regulated environments.
• Familiarity with automated testing practices and performance tuning.
