What you will do

• Edit original short- and long-form videos, incorporating archival research, animation, sound design, and motion graphics.
• Oversee the post-production workflow and shepherd videos through editorial closing, including fact-checking and legal review.
• Support video projects during pre-production, production, and distribution, providing creative input and coordination.
• Independently produce and shoot videos, as requested.
• Present creative ideas to enhance or adapt article drafts using video.
• Collaborate with producers, editors, and reporters to determine effective video storytelling approaches.

Requirements

• Five or more years of experience in digital video, with an emphasis on journalism or documentary.
• Expertise in Adobe Premiere Pro and comfort in After Effects.
• Experience working on and coordinating post-production, including color, sound, and graphics.
• Solid digital video shooting skills across various cameras, lighting, gear, and high-quality sound capture.
• Demonstrable experience working on tight deadlines and producing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge of and interest in the style and voice of The New Yorker.

• A film production degree is preferred.
