Location: Hybrid in Vancouver, Canada (2-3 days onsite required).

Salary: C$126,700–C$154,600 per year

What you will do

• Design and create FX animation, procedural simulation, dynamic simulation, particle, and fluid systems.
• Light complex/multiple elements and communicate shot status to supervisors and production.
• Provide accurate time estimates for shot work.
• Hand off elements to other departments like compositing and rendering teams.
• Present shot work in dailies and attend department meetings.
• Mentor junior effects artists and manage shot data including cleanup.

Requirements

• At least 5 years relevant professional VFX experience and a college level diploma in computer graphics, fine arts, design, or photography; OR at least 7 years relevant professional VFX experience in lieu of education.
• Demonstrates an excellent aesthetic eye and strong teamwork.
• Experience with production pipelines.
• Strong communication and ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
• Experience with Maya, 3DS Max, Houdini, or similar software.
• Basic understanding of the physics of simulation, Linux, and scripting ability in Python.
• Advanced simulation experience with Houdini, Maya, 3DS Max, or other software, and the ability to write expressions.
• Must be able to work in Vancouver, Canada on a hybrid schedule.
