AI Engineer (Legaltech)

TL;DR

AI Engineer (AI): Developing and improving the core AI product for legal professionals, building end-to-end product features that leverage LLMs for chat-based interfaces and behind-the-scenes integrations with an accent on RAG systems, agent orchestration, and infrastructure for evaluations and benchmarking. Focus on rapidly prototyping and refining new AI use cases in a fast-moving environment.

Location: Hybrid (8 days/month in the office in Berlin). Work from anywhere within the EU for up to 20 days within a twelve-month period.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain AI-driven product features end-to-end using LLM APIs.
• Build and optimize RAG systems, including document parsing, semantic chunking, and retrieval pipelines.
• Build scalable, maintainable backend systems using FastAPI and modern Python tooling.
• Design and implement agent orchestration systems for complex, multi-step legal workflows.
• Build infrastructure for evaluations and benchmarking, including continuous monitoring and alerting.

Requirements

• Deep experience building products that integrate large language models (LLMs) via APIs.
• Proficiency with FastAPI, Python, and common data science packages.
• Strong understanding of software engineering and security best practices.
• Excellent communication skills in English; German fluency is a plus.
