TL;DR

Senior Weapons & Prop Artist (Game Development): Finishing client-approved weapon/prop proxies into final, game-ready assets at AAA shipping quality with an accent on hard-surface craft, materials, and in-engine integration. Focus on building calibrated PBR materials, prepping animation-ready assets, and ensuring performance within budget.

Location: Fully Remote (multi-time-zone setup)

What you will do

  • Finish high/low poly models, retopo, UVs, baking, texturing/material lookdev, decals, LODs, and Unreal integration.
  • Ensure hard-surface excellence with clean topology, smart bevels, and crisp detail.
  • Build calibrated PBR materials with believable wear, dirt, and roughness variation.
  • Author geometry and materials for first-person readiness, managing microdetail and surface breakup.
  • Prepare assets for animation, including sockets, pivots, and moving parts.
  • Integrate assets into gameplay, setting collisions, sockets, and simple Blueprint hookups.
  • Optimize performance by managing tri/material/texture counts and defining LODs.
  • Conduct reviews, iterate quickly, provide feedback, and secure first-pass approvals.
  • Follow pipeline guidelines and contribute templates to speed up the team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in real-time weapons/props art with at least one shipped AA/AAA title or equivalent.
  • Strong proficiency in Maya (or Blender/Max), ZBrush, Substance 3D Painter/Designer, and Photoshop.
  • Proven hard-surface skills and tasteful wear/damage execution.
  • Comfortable integrating and troubleshooting in Unreal Engine (materials, LODs, collisions, sockets).
  • Clear communication skills and reliability in a remote, multi-time-zone setup.

Nice to have

  • First-person weapon specialization.
  • Experience with Marmoset Toolbag, CAD/boolean workflows, trim/atlas authoring, decal sheet creation.
  • Familiarity with Photogrammetry cleanup, Houdini utilities, or basic scripting (Python/MEL/Blueprint).
  • Experience with ShotGrid/Jira and outsource/vendor collaboration.
