What you will do

• Define and lead multi-year technical strategies aligned with business and traveler goals.
• Architect and optimize high-scale, low-latency search platforms and machine learning pipelines.
• Drive cross-team technical alignment through design docs, architecture reviews, and reference implementations.
• Champion a culture of technical excellence, focusing on observability, SLOs, and quality metrics.
• Provide deep mentorship to Principal and Senior Engineers across multiple business units.
• Partner with data science teams to optimize model-operational trade-offs and decision accuracy.

Requirements

• 14+ years of experience in designing and building large-scale, low-latency distributed systems.
• 5+ years of operating at a Principal Engineer level or equivalent.
• Expertise in information retrieval and machine learning engineering.
• Proven ability to influence technical direction at scale across multiple teams.
• Strong communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical trade-offs to diverse stakeholders.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States as this role participates in E-Verify.
