Unknown Worlds is seeking a Senior Gameplay Engineer to help drive development on a brand new game project. This role focuses on building and maintaining core gameplay systems, collaborating closely with design and art, and contributing to the creative and technical direction of the project.

You will be part of a fully distributed team working remotely, with a strong emphasis on quality, collaboration, and player-focused design.

🚀 Responsibilities
• Drive software development for major gameplay systems and features
• Architect, develop, and maintain flexible and extensible gameplay solutions and tools
• Optimize gameplay code for performance and memory requirements
• Collaborate closely with design, art, and other engineering disciplines
• Work with producers and QA to ensure stability and product quality

📚 Required Skills
• Strong knowledge of Unreal Engine and C++
• Strong knowledge of scripting languages such as Blueprint, C#, or Python
• 5+ years of software development experience
• At least 3 years of game development experience using Unreal Engine
• Experience with all phases of feature development from prototyping to shipping
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working closely with design teams on gameplay features

👍 Nice to Have
• Interest in game design, player experience, and gameplay creativity
• Experience with automated build systems and unit testing frameworks
• Experience with content pipelines
• Multiple shipped titles on modern platforms
• Enjoyment of solving challenging and open-ended technical problems
