R16 Interactive is an independent AA studio building Tale’s Edge, a gritty action-adventure RPG set in a shared universe of dark, reimagined Grimm’s fairy tales. The studio combines AAA-level polish with a lean, transparent development approach. We are looking for a Technical Animator to bridge art and code, bringing realistic human characters to life in Unreal Engine 5 and owning the animation pipeline end to end.
🚀 Responsibilities
• Build and author modern animation pipelines for humanoid characters
• Develop Animation Blueprints and state machines for responsive and polished gameplay
• Implement physics-driven secondary animation including cloth, hair, and soft body dynamics
• Own, maintain, and improve the animation pipeline from DCC tools to Unreal Engine
• Work closely with animators and programmers to achieve high-quality results
📚 Required Skills
• Strong experience with Unreal Engine and Animation Blueprints
• Confident use of Control Rig
• Solid understanding of skeletal animation, IK and FK systems
• Experience with procedural animation techniques
• Experience with physics-based animation systems
• Ability to collaborate effectively across art and engineering teams
👍 Nice to Have
• Experience with motion matching, motion warping, and contextual animations
• Experience with motion capture cleanup and retargeting
• Python or Blueprint scripting for pipeline tools
• Background in realistic human animation for games or film
