TL;DR

Gameplay Engineer Intern (GameDev): Participating in various aspects of game development for active AAA projects with an accent on debugging, testing, feature implementation, and performance optimization. Focus on acquiring essential skills using industry-standard tools like Unreal Engine, Visual Studio, and Perforce, while supporting senior engineers.

Location: Hybrid role located in San Carlos, CA. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. Required to work onsite for the first 1-2 weeks for onboarding.

Salary: $21–25 per hour

What you will do

  • Participate in game development, including debugging, testing, feature implementation, and performance optimization.
  • Acquire essential skills using industry-standard tools and software such as Unreal Engine, Visual Studio, and Perforce.
  • Support mid, senior, and lead engineers by coding and/or debugging existing tools and assets.
  • Enhance your understanding of advanced game development technology, focusing on Unreal Engine.
  • Gain expertise in version control and code review processes.

Requirements

  • Enrolled as a college Junior or Senior (graduating Fall/Winter 2025 or Spring 2026).
  • Pursuing a degree in Animation, Art, Game Art, Technical Art, Game Design, Game Development, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Availability to work full-time (40 hrs/week) for 12 weeks (June 1st – August 21st, 2026).
  • Able to work onsite at our studio in San Carlos, CA for the first 1-2 weeks for onboarding.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Submission of a complete application that includes a resume, cover letter, and a link to your GitHub or portfolio.

Nice to have

  • Portfolio or GitHub demonstrating foundational programming skills, including C++ game development or strong linear algebra.
  • Industry involvement outside classroom curriculum, such as game jams or personal projects.
  • Exposure to industry-standard development tools and engines.
