Staff Software Engineer, Frontend (AI)

Location: Primarily hybrid in Livingston, NJ, New York, NY, Sunnyvale, CA, or Bellevue, WA. Remote work may be considered for candidates more than 30 miles from an office, with quarterly team gatherings and initial onboarding at a hub. Must be a U.S. person or eligible to access export-controlled information under U.S. government regulations.

What you will do

• Lead technical direction and architecture of hirify.global’s frontend applications.
• Partner with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to shape roadmap, UX strategy, and API contracts.
• Design and build high-quality, accessible, and performant user interfaces using TypeScript and React.
• Own and evolve frontend standards, including component libraries, design systems, and testing practices.
• Collaborate with backend teams to design and consume GraphQL and REST APIs.
• Drive frontend performance and reliability through profiling, monitoring, and optimization.

Requirements

• Highly proficient in building complex SPAs using TypeScript and React.
• Typically 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant senior- or staff-level frontend ownership.
• Deep experience designing and consuming GraphQL APIs, with a strong understanding of type-safe data modeling.
• Strong understanding of frontend architecture: component design, state management, and build tooling.
• Demonstrated experience driving frontend quality at scale, including performance, accessibility, and testing.
• Applicant must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or eligible to access export-controlled information under U.S. government regulations.

Nice to have

• Proven track record of technical leadership and mentorship.
• Experience building and maintaining design systems or shared component libraries.
• Strong frontend performance experience (bundle optimization, Web Vitals).
• Experience collaborating with backend teams working in Go or Python.
• Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code concepts and cloud platforms.
