What you will do
- Lead and mentor engineers of different stacks.
- Optimize engineering work throughput and project execution.
- Own the planning and prioritization of projects alongside Product Owners and Staff Engineers.
- Manage staff capacity allocation across teams and projects.
- Lead the evaluation and hiring processes for new development team members.
- Plan and account for the career development of less experienced colleagues.
Requirements
- Technical background with 3+ years in a software engineer role.
- 4+ years of experience in a people management role (team lead or equivalent).
- Demonstrable track record of successfully leading multiple direct reports.
- Ability to understand, sometimes lead, and debate architecture and system design topics.
- Ability to lead the evaluation and hiring processes at an organisational level.
- Clear written and spoken communication skills.
- Regularly use GenAI tools and encourage team adoption.
Nice to have
- Ability to own and lead the planning and prioritisation of concurrent projects from a project manager's point of view.
- Solid knowledge of well-accepted solutions to common team alignment challenges.
- Strong ability to distinguish technical vs product roadmap tradeoffs.
- Strong ability to communicate the rationale behind technical and managerial decisions.
