Web Engineer (Fintech)

Web Engineer (Fintech): Developing a next generation investment platform and a mobile-first investment app with an accent on the full software development lifecycle, distributed team collaboration, and continuous improvement. Location: Hybrid in Manchester, London, or Bristol (UK), requiring a minimum of 50% of working time per month in the office, including one day a month in the Bristol office. New team members will have an initial period full-time in the office.

What you will do

• Engage in the full software development lifecycle from requirements gathering to production support.
• Work as part of a distributed team made up of self-motivated and collaborative individuals, emphasizing remote and async communication.
• Iteratively make improvements to new products while aligning with design and architectural principles.
• Continuously look for ways to improve products, processes, and practices.
• Implement automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.
• Contribute outside your specialism when needed, helping with technologies beyond your core competency.

Requirements

• Excellent programming and problem-solving skills.
• Required knowledge and skills include Git, Bash, TypeScript or other typed languages.
• Experience with Vue or other frontend JavaScript frameworks, as well as solid HTML, CSS (Sass), and JavaScript knowledge.
• Understanding of relevant software design patterns and paradigms, such as OOP, DDD, MVC, microservices, containers/orchestration or event-driven architecture.
• Ability to create straightforward and well-tested code.
• Take ownership of tasks and problems, asking for help when needed.

Nice to have

• Experience working with Investment or Pensions platforms.
• Prior knowledge of Vue (and related tools like Pinia, Vite, Vitest), gRPC/proto, Go, Dart, Flutter, PostgreSQL, Docker, Kubernetes, Playwright.
