Backend Engineer (AI/ML Data)

Senior Backend Engineer (AI/ML Data): Building and optimizing high-load backend services for data pipelines leveraging massive datasets pivotal to hirify.global’s operations, with an accent on Computer Vision and Machine Learning. Focus on designing and building robust data pipelines on GCP for billions of events in batch and real-time processing, and ensuring effective communication with software engineers and stakeholders.

Location: Hybrid in Düsseldorf, Germany with 2 WFH days weekly and 20 days remote work abroad. Visa and relocation support provided to Germany.

What you will do

• Contribute to a product used by millions daily in the Content team.
• Create insights from data using technologies like GCP, Apache Beam, Kafka, Kubernetes, and Computer Vision.
• Design and build GCP data pipelines for batch and real-time processing of billions of events.
• Take ownership in delivering relevant data to users for smart hotel booking decisions.
• Map business requirements into technical solutions with measurable impact.
• Act as a technology ambassador, sharing knowledge within the team and community.

Requirements

• 7+ years of programming experience, preferably with Python.
• Experience building data pipelines and production-level software at scale.
• Experience with GCP technologies like Dataflow, BigQuery, BigTable, Cloud Storage, and Pub/Sub.
• Profound knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.
• Passion for working with terabytes of data and associated challenges.
• Ability to present complex technical topics in plain English.

Nice to have

• Experience in implementing robust APIs, preferably in Python.
• Hands-on experience in distributed systems and/or streaming data technologies.
• Familiarity with Data Science concepts such as Machine Learning and building infrastructure for them.
• Experience (or a keen interest) in working with image processing.
