TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (AI): Building and optimizing capabilities for a cloud-hosted distributed system to support scientific researchers through the publication process with an accent on architectural decisions, continuous improvement of delivery, and collaboration. Focus on leveraging AI technologies, designing for cloud environments, and ensuring stability and performance.

Location: Hybrid, working remotely from home or in our office in Oxford.

What you will do

Design, develop, and deploy applications in a cloud-hosted distributed system.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify requirements and gather feedback.
Provide input into architectural decisions to ensure stability and performance.
Identify and implement enhancements to continually improve the delivery process.
Partner with cross-functional Agile and DevOps implementation teams.

Requirements

Proficiency in Java 17+ and Spring/Spring Boot.
Experience with a JavaScript/TypeScript tool (React, Angular, etc.) and SQL.
Experience with build tools, Git, and continuous integration (GitHub Actions / Jenkins).
Experience with alerting, monitoring, and logging tools (NewRelic, OpenSearch / Kibana).
Experience with test-driven development and mocking libraries (Jest, Mockito).
Familiarity with designing and developing for cloud environments (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS).

Nice to have

Experience with AI based solutions.
