TL;DR

Principal Data & Analytics Scientist: Developing and improving data science and analytics frameworks for Microsoft Advertising platform with an accent on product insights, experimental design, and data-driven decision making. Location: Must be local to Redmond, Mountain View, New York, or Atlanta and work onsite 3 days a week. Starting January 26, 2026, employees within 50 miles of a Microsoft office in the U.S. are expected to work onsite at least 4 days a week.

Salary: $163,000–$296,400 per year (varies by location, with higher ranges in San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area)

What you will do

• Deliver and interpret product insights and continuously improve products through data analysis.

Requirements

• Must be local to specified U.S. cities and able to work onsite as required.
• Doctorate, Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Data Science or related field with extensive data science experience (8+ to 15+ years depending on degree).
• 5+ years programming experience in Python, R, MATLAB, C#, Java, or C++.
• Experience in system building, data collection, design, coding, and evaluation.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with senior leaders.
• Ability to solve novel problems and collaborate across cultures and teams.
