Software Engineer

TL;DR

Software Engineer (Backend): Building and optimizing core cloud serving platforms that power Bing and other Microsoft products with an accent on distributed systems, data storage, and machine-learning inference. Focus on designing scalable NoSQL solutions, implementing secondary indexing, and debugging complex production environments.

Location: Beijing, China (hybrid, 4 days/week in office if within 25-mile commute)

hirify.global's ObjectStore team provides the core serving platform that powers Bing and other Microsoft products like Azure, Office, and Teams, supporting over 10,000+ storage tables worldwide.

What you will do

• Build and optimize core cloud serving platforms for Bing and other Microsoft products.
• Evolve ObjectStore into a rich, feature-complete serving platform.
• Support secondary indexing, full-text search, machine-learning inference, graph traversal, and general computation hosting.
• Compete with leading NoSQL, indexing, graph, and deep-learning serving technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• 2+ years of experience programming in C++, C#, or another object-oriented language.
• Must be based in Beijing, China.
• Expected to work from the office at least four days per week if within a 25-mile commute of a Microsoft office.

Nice to have

• Experience in search systems.
• Experience in distributed key-value store or inverted-index.
• Experience in debugging and profiling production distributed systems.
• Passion for distributed platform development.
• Ability to quantitatively evaluate, implement, and verify solutions in a distributed environment.
