Senior Network Security Engineer

Location: Palo Alto, CA; Austin, TX; New York, NY; or Washington, DC

Salary: $100,000–$258,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Serve as a subject matter expert in network security across firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, routing protocols, and switching technologies.
• Manage firewall configurations and deploy firewalls, switches, routers, and other network security devices.
• Design network security solutions for routing and switching environments.
• Document security processes and manage infrastructure changes.
• Resolve complex network security issues and provide escalation support.
• Monitor cloud and datacenter security events, analyze network traffic, and maintain patches, firmware, and system updates.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 4+ years of hands-on network security engineering experience focused on switching and routing.
• Strong knowledge of network security principles, TCP/IP, VLANs, ACLs, and secure routing and switching practices.
• Proficiency with AWS, GCP, or Azure and related network security services.
• Experience with Wireshark, tcpdump, and network vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto Networks.
• Familiarity with Python or Bash for network security automation.
• Must meet applicable ITAR eligibility requirements, including qualifying U.S. person status or eligibility to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations.

Nice to have

• Security certifications such as CCNP Security, CCIE Security, JNCIP-SEC, PCNSE, CISA, CRISC, CGEIT, Security+, or CASP+.
• Experience with multi-cloud environments and Terraform.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices for network security.
• Experience building custom network security tools or integrations.
• Interest in AI-based threat detection and automation.
• Contributions to open-source network security projects.
