Senior Backend Engineer

Salary: £75,000–£90,000 per annum, depending on experience

What you will do

• Build features for customer- and campsite-focused websites using Python.
• Scope and implement backend features with engineers and the Product Owner.
• Improve backend architecture while decomposing the existing monolith into services.
• Explore event-driven architecture and help accelerate delivery through fast feedback loops.
• Improve engineering practices across the development team.

Requirements

• At least 5–7 years of backend development experience, ideally in a scaling business.
• Strong Python proficiency and knowledge of software architecture, microservices, and preferably event-driven architecture.
• Understanding of the challenges involved in building adaptive and responsive websites.
• Structured problem-solving and clear communication of technical concepts.
• Self-motivation, effective planning and prioritisation, and experience working in an Agile development team.
• Ability to work remotely from the UK.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of the online travel agency sector.
• Experience with continuous delivery, feature flags, internal and third-party APIs, or related backend practices.
• Understanding of SOLID principles, event sourcing, branch-by-abstraction, or BDD.
• Relevant degree.
