What you will do

• Lead, coach, and mentor the Data Engineering team fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Oversee design and operation of scalable, mission-critical data pipelines (batch and real-time).
• Ensure end-to-end data quality, accuracy, and consistency across the Data Platform.
• Translate complex business requirements into technical specifications and delivery plans.
• Drive security, compliance, and operational excellence aligned with group standards.
• Lead automation, optimization, and innovation initiatives to improve performance and cost-efficiency.

Requirements

• Location: Must be onsite in St Julian's, Malta or willing to relocate
• English: B2 level or higher
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT, Business, or related quantitative field.
• 5+ years managing large-scale data projects and leading data engineering teams.
• Experience with AWS Redshift, S3, EMR, Airflow, Kafka, Spark, Iceberg, Hudi.
• Strong ETL/ELT skills and coding experience in Java, Scala, or Python.
• Familiarity with Linux, containers, Kubernetes, and cloud-first production data systems.

Nice to have

• Experience with analytics/time-series technologies like OpenSearch or Elasticsearch.
• Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
