What you will do

• Take full ownership of backend services from design through deployment, maintenance, and improvement
• Design and develop scalable, high-performance distributed services using Python and Django
• Architect systems for millions of users with low latency and high availability
• Collaborate with product, frontend, and DevOps to ship features on aggressive timelines
• Lead and mentor juniors via code reviews, architecture discussions, and knowledge sharing
• Own APIs, data pipelines, Kafka, caching; optimize for throughput, latency, and resilience
• Implement unit, integration, and performance tests; drive observability and processes
• Participate in on-call rotations and production support

Requirements

• 5+ years professional Python backend experience with ownership and delivery track record
• Solid Django experience with asynchronous programming (asyncio)
• Production experience with Apache Kafka
• Strong distributed systems experience (microservices)
• Deploying/managing containerized apps (Docker); cloud (AWS preferred)
• Proficient with SQL (PostgreSQL); CI/CD, monitoring (Prometheus/Grafana)
• Strong problem-solving, code reviews, Agile, on-call willingness

Nice to have

• Event sourcing or CQRS patterns
• Frontend (React), big data (Flink/NiFi), IaC (Terraform), Kubernetes
• Experience with 1M+ user systems or sports/betting industries
