Software Engineer - AI Platforms (AI)

Location: United States — based at the San Francisco or New York hub, or working remotely within the United States. In-person onboarding is required if hired.

Annual base salary: $153,000–$376,000 USD

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable, and performant systems supporting end-to-end AI feature development.
• Develop AI platform capabilities including evaluation frameworks, agent infrastructure, context retrieval, search, and core AI services.
• Improve the speed, reliability, and usability of Figma MCP and shared preview and publishing platforms for agent-generated code.
• Collaborate with product, research, infrastructure, and AI engineering teams across the organization.
• Shape platform strategy, technical roadmaps, and engineering best practices.
• Resolve complex production issues and mentor engineers while fostering technical excellence.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, particularly in backend or infrastructure engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in AI, search infrastructure, or developer platforms.
• Proficiency in TypeScript, Python, or Ruby.
• Strong system design skills and experience architecting resilient production systems.
• Excellent communication, cross-functional collaboration, and mentoring experience.
• Ability to work from the United States or from a Figma US hub; in-person onboarding is required.

Nice to have

• Experience building AI infrastructure at scale, including model training or serving platforms.
• Experience evolving large-scale shared developer platforms to improve reliability and developer velocity.
• Experience leading technical strategy and complex multi-team projects.
