Security Software Engineer, Detection & Response Platform (AI)

Location: New York City, Seattle, San Francisco, or Washington, DC, United States; hybrid attendance at one of the offices is required at least 25% of the time.

Annual salary: $320,000–$405,000 USD

What you will do

• Build an AI-powered platform covering detection development and incident response.
• Design and implement scalable pipelines for ingesting and processing security telemetry.
• Architect storage and query systems for large volumes of security data.
• Prototype security tooling and analytics capabilities.
• Partner with security and infrastructure teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Mentor engineers, contribute to hiring, and participate in on-call rotations.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience focused on security, infrastructure, and/or data pipelines.
• Experience building internal developer tools or security platforms and maintaining large-scale logging systems.
• Experience with test-driven development, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, Terraform or CloudFormation, and query optimization.
• Experience building stable, scalable cloud and serverless services and writing maintainable, secure Python code.
• Ability to lead technical projects, translate security requirements, mentor engineers, and manage ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or experience in a relevant field.

Nice to have

• Experience building security tooling, SIEM, log aggregation, EDR, detection engineering, or security operations solutions.
• Experience with SOAR automation, data lake or database architecture, API design, and internal platforms.
• Experience applying ML or AI to security problems and scaling security operations in high-growth environments.
