What you will do

• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers fostering growth and high performance
• Guide design and implementation of scalable data pipelines and platforms
• Review architecture and code, provide technical direction, and resolve complex challenges
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and stakeholders to prioritize and deliver projects
• Ensure operational stability, data quality, governance, and compliance
• Drive continuous improvement in development workflows and team productivity

Requirements

• Location: Hybrid role based in Edinburgh
• 6+ years in data or software engineering with 1–2 years leadership experience
• Experience with Spark, dbt, Airflow, Kafka, Databricks, SQL, and programming languages like Python, Scala, or Java
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Nice to have

• Prior people management or tech lead experience in data engineering or analytics
• Familiarity with machine learning workflows, data observability, and streaming architectures
• Experience in product-driven, customer-focused organizations
