Embedded Rust Software Developer (Government)

Location: Onsite in Tampa, Florida; Tempe, Arizona; Carlsbad, California; Linthicum Heights, Maryland; or Marlborough, Massachusetts, United States

Salary: $117,000–$185,000 annually. For specific locations in the San Jose, San Francisco Bay Area, and New York City metropolitan areas: $145,000–$218,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design and implement embedded software in Rust and C/C++.
• Develop software for Layer 2 and Layer 3 in-line network encryptors, embedded cryptographic devices, and emerging cryptographic solutions.
• Collaborate with system, test, and hardware engineers to develop and transition new capabilities into service.
• Clarify requirements and support development, integration, automation, testing, and final-product certification.
• Plan, track, and report on development progress within an agile multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of Rust experience, ideally writing production code for embedded devices.
• Experience designing and implementing embedded software in C/C++.
• At least 1 year of Linux use, ideally in an embedded environment.
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• US citizenship and an active SECRET or TOP SECRET security clearance are required.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Nice to have

• Agile Scrum development experience.
• Familiarity with Linux kernel driver development or modifications and bare-metal embedded device drivers.
• Experience with microprocessors and embedded processors such as NIOS, ARM, or RISC-V.
• Experience with emulation environments, networking protocols such as IPSec, MACsec, or TLS, and Python.
• Familiarity with standalone embedded applications and participation in multidisciplinary teams.
