Middle Python Developer With SQL Skills (Python/SQL)

What you will do

• Develop and maintain back-office analytics reports with filters, grouping, sorting, pagination, totals, drill-down links, CSV exports, and chart data.
• Write and optimize analytical ClickHouse SQL for aggregations over hundreds of millions of bets and period breakdowns.
• Define typed report contracts with Pydantic models and work with the RPC layer between the back-office API and ClickHouse reporter service over RabbitMQ.
• Implement report access control, including scopes, roles, operator and brand data isolation, and role-based field visibility.
• Investigate slow reports using query plans, filters, PREWHERE, and pre-aggregation, collaborating with the analytics/DataFlow team on table design.
• Write tests, participate in code reviews, and evolve the reports framework.

Requirements

• 3+ years of commercial Python development experience.
• Confident asyncio, including async/await, concurrency, and asynchronous I/O clients.
• Pydantic v2, including models, validation, serialization, and type hints.
• Strong SQL: complex SELECT queries with JOINs, subqueries, CTEs, multi-dimensional GROUP BY, conditional aggregation, and window functions.
• Understanding of analytical query scaling and query-performance problems.
• Experience with a columnar or OLAP database; ClickHouse is preferred.
• Experience building REST APIs with an asynchronous framework such as Sanic, aiohttp, FastAPI, or Starlette.
• Understanding of RabbitMQ and/or Kafka and RPC over queues.
• Git, Docker, and pytest-based testing.
• Ability to understand business metrics such as GGR, stake, payout, and margin and translate them into correct queries.

Nice to have

• Hands-on ClickHouse experience with MergeTree engines, FINAL, PREWHERE, dictionaries, conditional combinators, ARRAY JOIN, WITH TOTALS, quantiles, uniq, and uniqExact.
• Jinja2 or other SQL templating and query-building tools.
• Pandas, MongoDB, GraphQL, and monitoring with Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK.
• Experience in sports betting, iGaming, fintech, or ad-tech analytics.
• Monorepo tooling such as Pants, Poetry, uv, or Nix.
