Senior Storyboard Artist – Temp (SFD / Cinematics)

Location: Hybrid position with on-site and work-from-home work; potential home studio in Irvine, California, United States. Other remote work arrangements may be explored.

Salary: $94,580–$174,988 annual base pay in the U.S.; incentive compensation may also apply but is not guaranteed.

What you will do

• Create storyboard sequences from thumbnail through rough and clean finishes based on scripts, outlines, and director objectives.
• Maintain the creative vision, style, staging, and storytelling objectives of shows and intellectual properties.
• Collaborate with directors, creative leadership, production, supervisors, producers, editors, and storyboard artists on direction, design, timelines, and complexity.
• Pitch storyboards to leadership, executives, crew, and stakeholders; receive and implement feedback.
• Participate in script meetings and pitches when requested, providing storyboarding feedback.
• Manage documents and deliveries according to production guidelines, while providing status updates and meeting deadlines.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience as a storyboard artist and/or director.
• Relevant drawing experience with strong figurative and perspective draftsmanship.
• Ability to draw characters on model and in three-dimensional settings, producing clear and entertaining cleaned-up storyboards.
• Strong staging, cinematography, and composition skills using drawing and software tools.
• Advanced knowledge of Cintiq, Toon Boom Storyboard Pro, and Photoshop.
• Proficiency in timing, screen direction, continuity, and the language of cinema.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write clear and specific direction on storyboards when requested.
• Strong time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines, provide status updates, troubleshoot, and review changes with production staff.
• Ability to work from directors’ or fellow board artists’ thumbnails to create final boards within assigned deadlines when tasked.

Nice to have

• Blender 3D experience.
