Software Engineer | Developer Experience (AI)

Location: Hybrid in Palo Alto, California, United States

Salary: $200K–$290K per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Define and execute the developer experience roadmap for software engineering, including AI enablement.
• Build development platforms covering build systems, dependency management, integration environments, and test environments.
• Integrate agentic workflows into developer environments, source control, CI/CD, observability, and incident-response systems.
• Build agent infrastructure such as MCP servers, tool APIs, context and retrieval systems, permissions, auditability, and human approval paths.
• Develop AI-assisted software engineering capabilities across harnesses, evaluations, verification loops, and observability.
• Collaborate with Security Engineering and continuously improve the platform based on engineer feedback.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in software, platform, infrastructure, AI, or developer tooling.
• Experience making tooling secure by default, including supply chain security, secrets management, and least-privilege access.
• Experience building test clusters and cluster management infrastructure for developer environments.
• Expert knowledge of AI-assisted software engineering across harnesses, evaluations, verification loops, and observability.
• Awareness of emerging industry developments and a track record of quickly responding to promising innovations.
• Judgment and discipline to balance emerging technology exploration with proven approaches.
• Experience turning prototypes into reliable tools used by other engineers.
