Medical Device Engineer (Medical Diagnostics)

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom; onsite at the Manchester facility

What you will do

• Assemble, calibrate, test, and verify electronic instrumentation systems, including sensors, transmitters, and PCB boards.
• Diagnose and resolve assembly and testing issues using fault-finding skills.
• Document assembly processes, test results, and calibration procedures in line with the Quality Management System.
• Drive continuous improvement to streamline assembly workflows and reduce device costs.
• Manage component stock levels against forecasted demand and follow safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
• Directly supervise two Device Assembly Technicians and collaborate with R&D, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Finance, Admin, suppliers, partners, customers, and consultants.

Requirements

• HNC or above in Mechatronics Engineering, Engineering Physics, or a related multidisciplinary field.
• At least 5 years of experience in electronic device assembly or testing.
• Working knowledge of IEC 61010-1 safety requirements.
• Proficiency with PCB layout software such as Eagle or KiCAD.
• Practical electrical skills, including fault finding, multimeter and oscilloscope use, and competent soldering.
• Strong planning, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines under pressure.

Nice to have

• Experience with ISO 13485 Quality Management Systems.
• Basic software or firmware development experience.
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Experience working in interdisciplinary teams.
